Olympic Teams
The Soviets and Eastern block countries have used hypnosis much
longer than other countries for sports enhancement. 11 hypnotherapists
accompanied the Russian Olympic team in 1956 in Melbourne. That
year, they won the most medals of any nation.
Beijing 2008 Olympics: The only 2 shooters who won Gold Medals for
the U.S. worked with a hypnotist
Beijing 2008: A hypnotist cured Australian Gold Medalist, Steve Hooker,
of his fear in pole vaulting
In 1984, Time magazine reported that Mary Lou Retton used hypnosis to
prepare for the L.A. Olympics and to block pain in her injured foot to win
the Gold Medal.
Boxing
Kevin McBride who beat Tyson said that he did it with the use of
hypnosis
1973 Ken Norton used hypnosis to defeat Muhammed Ali (and broke his
jaw) in the fight where Ken was a 7-1 underdog. Not long after
Muhammed Ali would start using it himself.
In 1996 Steve Collins beat Chris Eubank for the World Boxing
Organizations Super-middleweight title, his success being attributed to
the focusing of attention created by hypnosis. Collins was programmed
to deliver two punches to Eubank’s one. In the fight Eubank threw 300
punches, Collins threw over 600!
Nigel Benn, WBC Super Middleweight Champion and Frank Bruno,
WBC Heavyweight Champion both used Sports hypnosis for boxing
performance enhancement.
Ken Norton used hypnosis to defeat Muhammed Ali (and broke his jaw)
in the 1973 fight where Ken was a 7-1 underdog. Ali began using
hypnosis soon after.
Ingmar Johannson used Sports Hypnosis training before wresting the
heavyweight boxing title from Floyd Patterson in 1959

Golfers are probably the most numerous group hiring hypnotists since
Golf has been said to be 90% mental and only 10% physical.
Golfer Jack Nicklaus gave full credit to self-hypnosis for his record wins.
He said that 90% of winning was mental. Professional golfers are known

Golfers Ian Woosnam, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, and many other golfers

Tiger Woods began seeing Jay Brunza at the age of 13 for hypnosis and
mental training. He has often made comments about trusting his

golf course speaks for itself. Woods acknowledges that he always uses
hypnosis to produce peak performance by ”willing myself into the zone.”

Phil Mickelson was trained by mental coach and hypnotist Dean

Basketball
Phil Jackson (NBA head coach) insists that the Chicago Bulls practiced
daily self-hypnosis when he coached Michael Jordan and the Bulls to
their 6 NBA Championships.
Later, after coaching the Los Angeles Lakers to a win in Game 7 of the
Western Conference Finals in 2002, Jackson credited his morning
practice of self-hypnosis, meditation, and visualization with giving the
Lakers the belief that they could win. He's been frequently called a "Zen
Master."
The Houston Rockets, Seattle Sonics, Washington Bullets, and the
Atlanta Hawks have all used Hypnosis.
Moto Racing
Chris Ulrich (Professional Motorcycle Roadracer- 2-Time AMA
SuperStock Winner) "Hypnosis has helped me refine and perfect my
mental approach to be successful in racing and life in general."
Tennis
Andre Agassi has used hypnosis to win consecutive gold masters.
Jimmy Connors used Sports Hypnosis for his U.S. Open Tennis wins
Baseball
1976: Rod Carew had a nagging injury that threatened his career.
Through hypnosis, he turned the lingering pain into a .400 batting
average. Hypnosis worked so well for Rod Carew that it gave him the
best season of his entire career. He won “The most valuable player
award.”
Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Maury Wills, Don Sutton, Mark McGwire
reported using sports hypnosis to be able to relax for his baseball games.
Bill Buckner of the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers also used
hypnosis to play his best.
The entire White Sox team of 1983 used hypnosis. They hired a Full
Time Hypnotist and they made it to the playoffs.

During the 1980 Olympic Games, 60% of the Australian swimming team
